Privacy
Very little, and none of it is sold, rented, or handed to advertisers. This page says plainly what is collected, who else is involved, and how to have any of it removed.
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies, builds no profile of you, and does not follow you to other sites. What it reports back is aggregate — how many people arrived, which pages they read, roughly where in the world they were. Nothing that identifies you personally.
The contact form is handled by Netlify, which hosts this site. When you send a message, your name, your email address, and what you wrote are stored there and passed to me. Writing to david@becomingordinary.org directly does the same thing without the middle step. Either way, I keep correspondence so that I can pick up a conversation where we left it, and I will delete it if you ask.
The newsletter runs on Buttondown, which stores your email address and nothing else. Open tracking is switched off, so I have no idea whether you read any particular letter, and that is by design. Every letter carries an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number never reaches me and is never stored on this site — Stripe holds it. What I see is your name, your email address, the amount, and the date. Stripe keeps its own records under its own privacy policy, as any payment processor must.
The Living Zen Podcast is hosted by Buzzsprout, and the player embedded on the Teachings page is theirs. Playing an episode there, or through Apple Podcasts or Spotify, means those services see the request rather than me. I receive download counts, not listeners’ names.
The site loads its two typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google and Google sees your IP address. This is worth knowing even though it is ordinary. Nothing else on the site talks to Google.
I do not sell or rent your information. I do not run advertising. I do not share what you write to me with anyone, and what is said in private practice conversation stays private. There is no analytics beyond the visit counting described above, and no tracking pixels in the newsletter.
Write to me and I will tell you what I hold and delete it. There is no form to fill in and no waiting period beyond the time it takes me to answer an email. If you are in California, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, you have rights along these lines under law; you are welcome to exercise them, though I would rather you just asked.
If this changes, the date below changes with it. Nothing here is retroactive.
